FREE DOWNTOWN DRONE SHOW FRIDAY EVENING TO KICK OFF
COLORADO AVALANCHE NHL PLAYOFFS ACTIVATIONS
‘Party to Puck Drop’ Pre-Game Series at Larimer Square Set for All Home Games
‘All In’ Playoffs Tagline Reflective of Organizational Mindset
DENVER (Wednesday, April 17, 2024) – A dramatic, lighted drone show high above Ball Arena set for Friday after sunset will kick off a slew of activations the Colorado Avalanche has planned to hype the team’s pursuit of a fourth Stanley Cup.
The free Avs-themed drone show will unfold in the airspace above Ball Arena’s westside Camry parking lots. The new “Playoff Faceoff” celebration, from 7:30-9 p.m., will also feature music by DJ Triple T, food trucks, giveaways including a pair of tickets to the first home game of Round 1, and Bernie the mascot. Guests are invited to bring their lawn chairs to the Camry North and Camry South lots for optimal drone show viewing.
Also new for this year’s Playoffs is the “Party to Puck Drop” series at Larimer Square, an official gathering for Avs Faithful prior to every home game with DJs, giveaways including a pair of tickets to that game, and appearances from Bernie, the Ice Patrol ambassadors, the Celly Squad drumline, and access to all the restaurants, bars, and shopping in the downtown historic district. Festivities will unfold under the traditional banner display featuring a jersey design for every member of the Playoff roster. At 90 minutes to puck drop, pom poms will be distributed as Bernie and Ice Patrol lead Avs Faithful n a raucous half-mile group march from Larimer Square to Ball Arena.
The Avs will open the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs on the road against the Winnipeg Jets this weekend for the first two tilts of a seven-game series before returning to Ball Arena for games 3 and 4 late next week.
The Avs will finish the regular season with the best home record in the NHL. The team credits Avs Faithful for giving them a palpable advantage while playing at Ball Arena and are hopeful the energy can be ratcheted up to another level for the Playoffs.
“We’ve played well at home all season long and a big piece of that is our amazing fans and the environment in Ball Arena,” said Avs general manager Chris MacFarland. “You walk in and you can feel it and our guys feed off that energy. We can’t wait to see our fans pack Ball Arena throughout the postseason.”
In advance of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Avs are rallying around a new Playoffs tagline, “All In,” which emerged out of reactions to the team’s extensive wheeling-and-dealing prior to the trade deadline.
“We kept seeing and hearing ‘All In’ as a phrase fans and the media were using to sum up the team’s vision and commitment towards another deep Stanley Cup run,” said Avs vice president of marketing Meredith Lavery McClanahan. “The guys play all in every game, the front office has proven they’re all in, and Avs Faithful have been all in through 104 consecutive sellouts and counting.”
